Mitar Subotić was a pioneering electronic/experimental musician from Novi Sad in former Yugoslavia. Originally a diverse composer, his Rex Ilusivii monicker was concerned with the darker side of things. As such, the music involved can be described as esoteric ritualistic ambient combined with new age, while the traditional balkan song and chanting influences add to the overall eeriness, giving off a unique flavour.
The record compiles Suba's outtakes for Rex Ilusivii from 1980 to 1991, explaining the occasional shift in style among the compositions as the years were passing by. This release certainly came just in time for us who either had no idea about Suba, or had entirely forgotten about him. Too bad he left us so soon.
